AMAZING NEWS… CONGRATULATIONS TO ONE OF OUR VERY OWN

Our very own Owner and Head Coach, Shelly Gramatky, was invited to speak at the Golden State Spirit Association’s Annual Coaches, Gym Owners, and Event Producers Conference, held in Sacramento, California. She spoke on several topics throughout the weekend: Tumbling Technique, Stunting Technique and Progressions, Ideas to Unite Teams and more. She also was requested to present the Key Note Address to motivate the attendees. Below is an excerpt;

…I learned through my life that this is my baby, this is my love. My kids that competed for me this year are my INSPIRATION. They shouldn’t have achieved all that they did, and this sport that we teach is what GIVES BACK to me each and every day. I know I couldn’t live without cheer in my life, and the families it brings through my door each and every season. I give my all to bring them the best experience I can provide. I want them to know and understand that teamwork takes everyone, and what you give comes back even more than you could ever imagine. I want them to know that someone has their back because we are a team, and no one can go out on the floor without trusting that each and every member of that team has each others’ back, including the coaches and the parents.

So for now, my unconditional love carries me forward. I have hope that this job that I do, is more than just a job…that it means something to someone, because it means EVERYTHING to me…

At the conclusion of the weekend, Shelly was also named
2010 COACH OF THE YEAR

This is a prestigious honor that only a handful of coaches in the state have earned. She was nominated by one of her students, and voted in by her peers made up of coaches throughout the State of California. What even made it more special is that Shelly is the first coach to receive this honor twice. She also was named Coach of the Year in 2005. We are so proud that she is our Leader, and her talents continue to bless our home, Gymcheer USA, Home of the California Flyers.

Coach Shelly responds;
I would not have been recognized as an inspirational leader and coach without our students inspiring others through their performances on the mat, and their actions on a daily basis out in the public eye. Thank you for being dedicated and passionate cheerleaders. And my endearing appreciation to our families who have supported us throughout the entire journey.

CONGRATULATIONS ON MAKING IT TO WORLDS! YOU GIRLS WERE FANTASTIC AND WE'VE NEVER BEEN MORE PROUD!
On February 16th and 17th twenty Santa Clarita athletes ages 11 to 18 found themselves on a stage in Atlanta, Georgia competing in the largest cheerleading competition, the Cheersport Nationals. Over 30,000 cheerleaders attended, over 40 states represented, all ready to take on the best teams in the nation.

This was the California Flyers first experience at the Cheersport Nationals. Coach and choreographer, Shelly Gramatky said, “We are going for the experience to feel what its like to be surrounded by the most acrobatic athletes and teams in cheerleading. We are traveling this far to do our best and bring back with us motivation for our program to grow and excel.”
There is a definite draw to this competition, which is why most teams travel far and wide to compete here. Cheersport offers bids to the Cheerleading Worlds Competition held in Orlando Florida at the end of April. Only those who earn a bid to attend may compete at the most prestigious cheerleading competition in the World.

California Flyers dreamed of receiving a bid, but knew it was just that – a dream. “Our goal is to have fun, and remember this trip as being the first,” coach Gramatky said.

California Flyers – Top Gun Small Senior (level 5) team did just that. The weekend was fun and exciting, and will always be memorable in every family and team member’s mind. They not only performed a flawless two and a half minute action packed routine, they captured the First Place Title, trophy, banner, jacket and a $7500.00 check to partially pay for their Worlds’ trip. They were among 11 other teams out of over 1000 competing teams that won a partial paid bid to the World Championship. Congratulations to all the girls along with their coaches who have shown that dedication, teamwork, and commitment will make you soar! Go Flyers! Catch them on ESPN where they will go head to head with the “best of the best” in the “Superbowl” of cheerleading.

Top Gun is working hard to earn money to pay for the entire trip. If you would like to help, you can sponsor this athletic and goal oriented group of girls and help make their dreams come true. Nastasha DeJesus, a TOP GUN member of California Flyers tried out and made the US Spiritleader Cheerleading Staff and will be teaching over 3000 High School and Jr High Cheerleaders Camp material at Soka University this summer! Our own Santa Clarita Valley High Schools will be in attendance; Golden Valley, Saugus, and Village Christian.
