CONGRATULATIONS ON MAKING IT TO WORLDS! YOU GIRLS WERE FANTASTIC AND WE'VE NEVER BEEN MORE PROUD!
On February 16th and 17th twenty Santa Clarita athletes ages 11 to 18 found themselves on a stage in Atlanta, Georgia competing in the largest cheerleading competition, the Cheersport Nationals. Over 30,000 cheerleaders attended, over 40 states represented, all ready to take on the best teams in the nation.

This was the California Flyers first experience at the Cheersport Nationals. Coach and choreographer, Shelly Gramatky said, “We are going for the experience to feel what its like to be surrounded by the most acrobatic athletes and teams in cheerleading. We are traveling this far to do our best and bring back with us motivation for our program to grow and excel.”
There is a definite draw to this competition, which is why most teams travel far and wide to compete here. Cheersport offers bids to the Cheerleading Worlds Competition held in Orlando Florida at the end of April. Only those who earn a bid to attend may compete at the most prestigious cheerleading competition in the World.

California Flyers dreamed of receiving a bid, but knew it was just that – a dream. “Our goal is to have fun, and remember this trip as being the first,” coach Gramatky said.

California Flyers – Top Gun Small Senior (level 5) team did just that. The weekend was fun and exciting, and will always be memorable in every family and team member’s mind. They not only performed a flawless two and a half minute action packed routine, they captured the First Place Title, trophy, banner, jacket and a $7500.00 check to partially pay for their Worlds’ trip. They were among 11 other teams out of over 1000 competing teams that won a partial paid bid to the World Championship. Congratulations to all the girls along with their coaches who have shown that dedication, teamwork, and commitment will make you soar! Go Flyers! Catch them on ESPN where they will go head to head with the “best of the best” in the “Superbowl” of cheerleading.

Top Gun is working hard to earn money to pay for the entire trip. If you would like to help, you can sponsor this athletic and goal oriented group of girls and help make their dreams come true. Nastasha DeJesus, a TOP GUN member of California Flyers tried out and made the US Spiritleader Cheerleading Staff and will be teaching over 3000 High School and Jr High Cheerleaders Camp material at Soka University this summer! Our own Santa Clarita Valley High Schools will be in attendance; Golden Valley, Saugus, and Village Christian.

WE CONGRATULATE ALL OF OUR 2005-2006 CALIFORNIA FLYERS TEAM MEMBERS FOR MAKING THEIR HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS! WE ARE PROUD THAT AFTER THEIR YEAR OF HARD WORK THEY HAD THE CHANCE TO SHOW IT OFF AND MAKE IT ONTO FRESHMAN, JUNIOR VARSITY, AND VARSITY TEAMS ALL ACROSS OUR VALLEY! EVERY SINGLE MEMBER MADE IT! AND WE WISH YOU THE BEST OF FUN!

Owner, Shelly Gramatky returned to the GSSA (Golden State Spirit Association) Coaches' Convention as a guest speaker this year. Several Ca. Flyers members attended to demonstrate Stunt technique, Basket tosses and how to perfect that routine. With rave reviews from coaches all over Southern California, we personally thank Melissa Carr, Melissa Lincoln, Haley & Brooke Garelick, Lindsey Simnowski, Chandler White and Chelsea McLaughlin for being helpful and positive!

Shelly also passed on the title of Coach of the Year to a newly appointed Coach, for the Year 2006 - Annie Orhi. Annie is from Rim of the World and dedicated her past year to helping the Hurricane Katrina victims. She and her team raised thousands of dollars to help a local school in need. They even went as far as getting other California High Schools to donate needed items such as Prom dresses, formal decorations etc. so that the victims of the Hurricane could still try and have something normal during their school year! We are honored to have a coach like this in California!

2005 NEWS

CONGRATULATIONS to OUR CALIFORNIA FLYERS 'COACH OF THE YEAR'!

Shelly Gramatky - Owner/Program Director/head choreographer and coach won the title of 'COACH OF THE YEAR' by the Golden State Spirit Association April 29, 2005 at the Annual Coaches' Conference in Marina Del Rey.

There were 3 other All Star nominees, chosen in January, from the pool of coaches in the state of California. The other nominees are incredible and Shelly was amazed she had won, and felt completely honored considering the that the other coaches involved are from Pyramids All Stars, Platinum and Vipers All Stars (all amazing programs). The most thrilling part of the weekend was being able to see students from California Flyers represent our program and do such an incredible job!
